What Live-in Care Really Looks Like Day to Day
Live-in care sounds simple on paper: a carer moves in, and someone always has support on hand. In practice, what makes it work is much less about any single task and much more about rhythm - building a day that still feels like the client's own, just with help woven through it.
A typical day starts with whatever the client's normal morning looks like: help getting up and dressed if it's needed, breakfast made the way they like it, and medication given on schedule. From there, the shape of the day is set by the person, not the carer - errands, appointments, hobbies, or simply time in the garden.
What tends to surprise families is how much of live-in care is companionship rather than hands-on tasks: shared meals, conversation, and just having someone else in the house. That's often what makes the difference between "coping at home" and actually enjoying it.
