Domiciliary Care: Support That Fits Around Your Life
Domiciliary care is built around visits rather than a live-in presence - a carer arrives for a set window, helps with specific tasks, and moves on to their next client. For a lot of people, that's exactly the right amount of support: enough help to stay safe and independent, without someone living in the spare room.
Visits can be as short as thirty minutes for a medication check, or long enough to cover washing, dressing, and breakfast. Most clients start with one or two visits a day and adjust from there - it's rarely the right call to guess the number of visits up front and never revisit it.
The tasks covered are practical: personal care, mobility support, light housework, meal preparation, and picking up prescriptions. Just as important is consistency - seeing a familiar face rather than a different carer every visit makes a real difference to how comfortable someone feels accepting help.
